Research Focus
In the Ph.D. in Biology and Biochemistry project of the Graduate Center of City University of New York, the direction of cancer biology and molecular mechanisms is focused on the structure, function and regulation of life molecules in normal and pathological conditions, as well as their critical role in the occurrence, development and treatment of tumours, and covers the frontier fields of molecular biology, cytology, biochemistry, cancer genetics, apparent genetics, tumor metabolism, signal transfer and precision therapy.
The project focuses on interdisciplinary research methods that combine experimental biology, chemical biology, genomics, proteomics, computational biology with systemic biology, and the in-depth analysis of the molecular basis of cancer occurrence, the mechanisms for the management of cell fate and the impact of tumour micro-environments on disease processes and treatment responses.
The research focuses on the functional resolution and regulation networks of the cancer and anti-cancer genes, the role of key signal circuits in the development of tumours, the restoration of DNA damage and genomic stability, the reprogramming of visual genetic regulation and transfer procedures, the reprogramming of tumour metabolism and cytological energy, protein structure and function regulation, tumour stem cells and resistance mechanisms, tumour immunization and escape, target-oriented treatment and joint treatment strategies, biomarking and molecular diagnostic techniques.
Through a combination of molecular and cell experiments, high-intensity sequencing and multigroup analysis, structural biology, computational modelling, functional genomics and disease modelling systems, the project seeks to promote full-chain innovation from basic life science to the development of tumour precision medicine and new treatment strategies. The project places great emphasis on multidisciplinary cross-cutting, in-depth integration of biology, biochemistry, medicine, chemistry, data science and artificial intelligence methods to provide systematic scientific support for the analysis of cancer mechanisms, target detection, drug development and individualized treatment.
