Research Focus

  • Mathematic analysis and application of mathematics, mathematical theory of differential equations, numerical analysis and reconciliation nature.
  • Mathematic modelling, which studies practical problems through theoretical analysis and computational methods, particularly in the areas of physical systems, fluids, materials science, etc.
  • Innovative applications of mathematical methods and numerical algorithms, including algorithms and numerical techniques for simulation of complex dynamic systems, in particular multiscale modelling and computational methods.
  • The cross-cutting areas of mathematics and physics, including hydrodynamics, elastics, heat transfer, etc., are interested in mathematical modelling and quantitative analysis.
  • The combination of applied mathematics and engineering disciplines promotes the application of mathematics in practical engineering issues and solves mathematical difficulties in engineering.

Career Prospects

The Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics and Statistics at Stone Creek, State University of New York, is well known for its solid theoretical and interdisciplinary training, and graduates are popular in the job market and have broad development prospects. Overall, their career paths are diverse and rising, especially in data-driven industries, where demand is strong.

According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics and related industry reports, the median annual salary of professionals with doctoral degrees is significantly above average, usually from 100,000 to 150,000 dollars, with a higher pay potential for seniors or for entering a particular area of higher pay. In terms of career choices, doctoral graduates mainly go to the following areas:

  • Science, technology and industry: this is one of the most important directions.

Graduates can perform high-tech positions in top technology companies (e.g. Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta) such as machine learning, data science, algorithm research, quantitative analysis, and solve complex problems such as referral systems, computer vision, and natural language processing. - Finance and counselling: in investment companies, hedge funds, private equity and financial science and technology companies, doctoral doctors play the role of modelling and statistical advantage in quantitative transactions, risk modelling, pricing of financial derivatives and actuarial analysis, which are central intellectual support for financial innovation.

  • Academia and high-end research institutions: Some graduates continue to advance the theoretical frontier by entering university or research-type colleges. Many are also employed in government laboratories (such as national laboratories) and non-profit research institutions for modelling and simulation of strategic national topics such as defence, energy and climate.

  • Biomedicine and health data science: With a strong statistical analytical capacity, graduates play a key role in pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology enterprises and medical research centres, and are responsible for clinical trial design, genomic data analysis, epidemiological modelling and major medical health data mining.
